Impact Café: From Issue to Impact - Train‑the‑Trainer Workshop for Local Government Staff


Please join Lotterywest and the City of Belmont for a practical workshop designed for local government staff who support community development, grants, partnerships and local initiatives.

Learn how to design strong projects and compelling grant applications for your own work — and how to guide community groups, clubs and local networks to strengthen their applications to Lotterywest, Healthway and other government and philanthropic funders.

This capability‑building session covers:

  • Clarifying project purpose and community need
  • Designing outcome‑focused initiatives
  • Building simple logic models and theories of change
  • Easy measurement tools for grants and reporting
  • Practical ways to coach and support community groups in their own grant journeys

Melanie Bainbridge is a social impact and sustainability professional with over 20 years’ experience in strategy, policy, and community engagement. As Senior Manager, Impact Design and Capability at Lotterywest, she helps organisations design for measurable, meaningful impact. Mel has worked extensively with local governments and community groups to develop strategies focused on sustainability, equity, wellbeing, and culture. She’s passionate about turning big ideas into practical action and helping groups define their goals, plan their path, and share their story with clarity and heart.
